Goris Geological Museum

Goris Geological Museum is a geological museum, representing Goris region, which is located in the city of Goris of Syunik region.

History : Goris Geological Museum was founded in 1948. It is the first museum of the region. During the Soviet years, the city was located in St. Gregory the Illuminator Church. After Armenia gained independence in 1991, during the Karabakh war, the museum was removed and preserved.  It was reopened again in 2001 on the territory of the Gusan Ashot Cultural Center in Goris and is still operating.

Collection: The museum focuses on more than 5,300 exhibits reflecting the history and culture of the region. It has a rich archeological collection. The five-faced idol (2nd millennium BC) and the Lion statue (8th-7th centuries BC) are especially remarkable.
